Mother and Daughter Killed in Crash | News
A mother and daughter were killed in a crash early Saturday morning.
Friends of the girl were leaving mementos Sunday at the crash site, and sharing memories online.
Kelly Radwanski, 40, and her 15-year-old daughter, Cailene, were passengers in a vehicle that collided with a pick-up truck just before 3 a.m. Saturday in Northmoreland Township, close to the Luzerne County line.
The crash injured two others.
Friends paid their respects at the site where officials said two people were killed.
Flowers were placed in their memory, at the crash site in Centermoreland.
Investigators said the two were passengers in a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old man.
State police said they were traveling west on Route 292 around 2:45 a.m. when the driver crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a pick-up truck driven by a 23-year-old woman.
Christine Traver of Northmoreland Township heard the crash and called 911.
“At the time I was talking to the dispatcher, the girl that got out of the truck was yelling, 'Help me, help me. Please help me,” said Traver.
After coming around the curve and striking the pick-up truck, troopers said the vehicle ended up hitting the embankment. Both Radwanski in the front seat and her daughter in the back seat were killed.
Officials said Cailene had just finished her freshman year at Tunkhannock Area High School, and she was now enrolled at Elk Lake.
Friends and family left memorial messages on her Facebook wall.
Her father, Tom, wrote, "For some reason, God decided he needed you more than we do. You are in a better place now. The 15 years we had (with) you was not enough. There will be a hole in my heart that will only be filled again when I get to hold you in my arms again. I love you, Daddy."
Other friends said she was a sweet girl who will never be forgotten.
Traver said after witnessing the tragic crash she feels for those closest to Cailene and Kelly
“Our thoughts and prayers are with them, because that's a tough one, really tough,” said Traver.
There's no word where the people involved in the crash were coming from or going to.
The names of both drivers have not yet been released, but police said the 19 year old was flown to Geisinger Wyoming Valley with serious injuries. The woman driving the truck was taken to an area hospital for her wounds.
Funeral arrangements for Kelly and Cailene Radwanski have not yet been announced.
